Screensaver Series by Janine Harrington is a performance and research project, inspired by the obsolete screen-saving programmes of early computing. The live kaleidoscopic installation is comprised of sound coding and dance performance and offers activity within “inactivity” much like meditation or hypnosis. The perpetual movement references the natural world, care-taking and metamorphosis.
Screensaver Series is ideal for gallery spaces in which audiences can shift their perspective around the work experiencing the magic of the imagery from the front as well as the mechanics from the sides. A project of three parts, Screensaver Series also encompasses video and digital iterations currently in development.
