We’re in the last 10 days till Nottdance 2019 launches and today our focus is on the Choreographic Lab.
The Choreographic Lab is directed by Jane M Bacon and Vida L Midgelow. They have both been on the Dance4 board previously at different times. They have a strong connection to Dance4 and started the Choreographic Lab when they worked together at University of Northampton in the past.
The Choreographic Lab provides a platform for sharing choreographic practices, critical inquiry and debate. They work to curate exchanges, workshops and events, create innovative new works, support the publication of new dance writings and develop training/mentoring programmes.
The Choreographic lab also publish a journal that provides a platform for sharing choreographic practices, critical inquiry and debate. The journal called ‘Choreographic Practices’ was first published in January 2010 and each year they release 2 issues per volume. iC4C has a library with all volumes of Choreographic practices. You are welcome to come have a browse through.
Choreographic Lab will present BreathBone at Nottdance 2019 as an Open Practice. Audiences will enter an intimate performance, where gesture, voice and sound generate an evocative and meditative experience. Following the performance Guy Dartnell will join Vida and Jane to host a discussion about performances and contemplative practices.
