For this years festival we have collaborated with Dance Umbrella in London to bring October Collection. A new contribution to the UK dance calendar, October Collection seeks to showcase choreographic work of artists based in England.

As a showcase it will be hosting international dance presenters at both Dance Umbrella and Nottdance enabling them to see works from dance artists based in England providing opportunity to explore new and exciting artists with a desire to develop internaitonal collaboration.

Alongside artist presentations, performances, discussions and networking, visiting presenters are invited to share their ambitions for their programmes and opportunities for artists to work in their countries.

Emma Gladstone, Artistic Director of Dance Umbrella said:

“At Dance Umbrella we are always looking for strong partnerships that work for audiences, artists and the professionals we work with. This year’s connection with Dance4 and the development of the October Collection programme has been a real pleasure, and one I believe is the start of an enduring link for the future.”

Paul Russ, Artistic Director of Dance4 & Nottdance 2019 co-curator said:

“We’re delighted to be collaborating with Dance Umbrella. Working together we can create a rich programme for international presenters to witness the mature and expanded dance field in the UK.

Both festivals are known for presenting extraordinary international dance works and this year they will continue to do so whilst ensuring the voices of artists based in England attract new attention for the exciting contribution they are making to the local, national and international cultural scene.

Nottdance, like Dance Umbrella, is co-curated with an artist’s perspective right at the heart, my collaboration with Matthias Sperling has brought new thinking and approaches to creating this new look Nottdance”.
